hi guys I had two of these in my tank was told they were male and female but came home last nite to find the smaller one had been attacked and legs and claws cut off and fond it dead in the tank today is this normal can any one advise

what shop is selling Procambarus clarkii? They are illegal in Ireland and classified as an invasive species, furthermore and more importantly they are carriers of the crayfish plague (actually a fungus called Aphanomyces astaciwhich being themselves immune to it.Our native crayfish species is not immune to it. Put a pot on the boil and destroy the other one as well

you would either be suprised or horrified by the amount of people keeping them here so it may not have been a shop ;)

most freshwater crayfish I see for sale here are yabby, Cherax destructor.

Jesus somethings never change :lol: If your looking for the advise you asked for ,id say your best bet is to ask a shop you got it form, or one you know of selling them ;) Im sure you probably enjoy your crayfish, so hold off on the pot there. I wish i knew about them mate, id actually try give yo some advise ;)
People selling these are the problem not the other way around. Pm'd mate ;)

@Paul,
My reply was not meant as a criticism on shuffles. And you are correct in saying that the shops are the problem. A picture would be handy so that we at least know what species we are talking about
