Hi all

Postby Niall beggan on 03 Apr 2013 23:41

Hi everybody, I'm fifteen and I've kept goldfish for a while, I started about two years ago with two cometail goldfish in a thirty litre, now quarantine tank.
Now I have two cometail and two sarosa goldfish in a three foot ~ninety litre (bare just gravel) with three wcmm and zebra danios, my dad and I also have a larger tropical tank four foot around one seventy l with six cardinal tetra five rummy nose tetra five black neon tetra a siamese flying fox three weather loach seventeen wcmm ~2cm & two dalmation mollies the last are temporary
anyways I've had a few diseases and such in my tanks recently, killed two hillstream loaches with white spot medicine :( so I decided to join here for help and advice when I found out it's free

My goldfish have large white spots on there gills and front fins I've treated them with white spot medicine but to no avail, after recently having a minor outbreak of white spot on my cardinals I know think this can't be white spot, the same spots have been there too long and they are larger,i read in one of my dads old books that it might be"salt and pepper"disease but can find no information about this online, wikipedia said that's just another name for white spot any ideas?

welcome to the forum, it sounds like you have been bitten by the bug! as for losing some fish, we all lose fish at some stage or other, the knack is learning from it and not losing fish the same way a second time!
if you can get hold of a camera stick some pics up of your fish. everybody loves pictures!

sorry, i missed you last post last night, the first thing that came to mind when i read it this morning was that it may be breeding tubercles on the males, they develope these in spring when getting ready to spawn.. have a google for them and compare them to the ones on your fish before deciding to medicate
