Anybody keeping these?

I just got a group of 8 yesterday, stunning fish, I've been after them a long time. Ended up sourcing them in the UK and having them shipped over.

I haven't been able to get any genuine ones since I moved to Ireland.

There have been places 'selling them' but they have either been sold before I got there, or they were not the genuine article (and then someone tries to fob you off with 'that is what they look like at that size'....rubbish).

They are mega fish and stand alongside Myloplus rubripinnis for THE medium/largish characid to have (they beat any of the large false Pacus any day).

Cheers Joe/Ian/Drew,

Looking forward to seeing what weird and wonderful species you will be bringing in Drew.
I have been on the lookout for a vulture catfish for a long time if you come across any...

Ian, these guys are the real deal alright, I'll pop up a clip of them tonight. They are very striking looking.

They are sharing a holding tank with a little Jardini arowana, Peacock bass and some F. Rostratus.

Sent you a pm Ian.

Cheers Anto, they are juvenile rostratus, also a little arowana and peacock bass in there.

I tried to catch all of the rostratus to move them to a different tank but gave up after moving about 70. Those guys are tough fish to catch..

How are you getting on with these mate? Are they boisterous at all? I'm looking for something like this for a tank, but they need to be relatively peaceful, especially at feeding time,as there's a shy feeder there.

They are doing great Dave, they wouldn't be great with shy feeders as they get pretty mental at feeding time. Same with any of the other silver dollars I've kept. What type of fish is the shy eater?

Thanks, thats what I thought they'd be like. It's just my pike cichlid, surprisingly shy.

Some synos might be a nice mix with the pike.

Just feeding the fish there a moment ago and my biggest red hook almost choked. Was pretty surreal, everything milling around then a big red hook floating upside down with a lump of prawn jammed in its mouth (meant for a peacock bass). Took a bit of recovering to sort him out. So as I was saying, they're a bit mental at feeding time
