6ft reef tank build

Postby spons on 12 Nov 2012 18:30

Hi all,

I am extremely exited about this.
Got a 6 ft Clear-seal tank(just tank) from chambers. It is drilled and has a corner weir.

Sump is ordered from Aquarium Solutions (5 ft).

Got most of the plumbing today.

The stand is going to be made by a friend of mine(he is a carpenter)

Got 3 one inch bulkheads 2 90 degree bends for the durso 2 meter pipe and 4 pipe connectors. Payed e39, not bad. Have a ball valve for the siphon from the guy that sold me the tank.

Basically i will have full siphon with ball valve on the bottom , the durso and emergency stand pipe.

Siphon takes about 95% of the water and the durso 5% making it silent, And of course the emergency one if something gets stuck in those pipes . . .

Oh, the place i got this all is beside b&q in Limerick, selling pluming and bathroom stuff. Cant think of the name...

if you could do a little step by step guide of the cabinet build that would be great (with pics of course) ;) it's always nice to see the different ways people approach a diy cabinet build!!
looking forward to seeing this fully set up, good luck mate.

No need for all those braces on top and bottom especially since you are putting plywood on both bottom and top
You can't fix stupid.

A friend of mine is going to look after the stand. Plus, he is a carpenter, he will make a nice finish on it...
