Little buggar !

Postby paddyc1 on 11 Jul 2011 22:17

Caught a quick glimpse of a tiny insect like creature running across my mushroom corals earlier before doing a runner back into the live rock. Didn't have time to take a pic (or a camera good enough).
It was about 'ant size' or smaller, greenish in colour.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be ?
Thanks in advance, Paddy

Copepod? Amphipod? Did it look like a lice?

Just the general life that comes in on live rock and then multiplys in your tank.

Personally i wouldnt take anything out unless it was a bad crab!!

The more good little critters you have in your tank the more stable and mature it is.

Shone a torch in after lights out and there is loads of life. Dont know why I'm only doing this now. I did add new corals on lr recently so obviously this is where they came from. I saw what may be a bristle worm or something of the sort, and also another worm like dude that popped out of a hole in the lr, spewed out some white stuff and retreated back in just as quick.
There seems to be at least 3 types of the tiny creatures mentioned in the 1st post, probably copepods and amphipods. As for the rest.....dunno !!

Yep thats all the little amazing creatures that come with the bottom of the ocean! I checked the other night and i counted 41 limpets of which i could see in the tank, all sorts of small worms, bristle worms etc. It really is alive and home to so many things.
