goniopora (green)

Postby jeff on 03 Feb 2015 19:32

Was going to get one if these but after just reading that most will only last about 3mts and if your lucky you might get a year from it,

Allot of money for something that's a bit dodge

Has anyone any stories about these, have you had any luck with the green one as these apparently are the hardest to keep

I've had them last longer than a year and know of them lasting several years, beautiful coral, seemingly enough they can die due to a lack of manganese in your water so probably no harm to get a Triton test done to see if your lacking in anything first

Oh cool that's good news, Yeh was reading about the iron and manganese, it can also be supplemented threw their food, so that's probably the best way to make sure their getting enough of it, now I have to find what food has both

I've had 4 alltogether, the red one from joes corals is the only that thrived. I think it's because it was cultured in his tanks.
2 died on me. And one started to die but for the past 3 months it's started to grow back over the dying part.
Mn is paramount to their health. But I do really think the wild ones are ten times harder to keep, and slowly start to die after a while. I had one that died over a course of 8 months.
This is a drug and im getting addicted little by little.

Very true Keith, jasus man you have them all they look deadly together

Thanks for all the comments lads appreciate it

Collecting one tomorrow

The only thing I can get asap for manganese is out in sh and they only have a triton one which is pricey but was told it will last a long time so should be worth it, well it will be worth it if it helps me keep it alive

The Triton one would last ages alright, only thing is how do you know how much manganese is already in your tank, I'd add the goniopora and if if looked a bit lacking at any stage then add a small dose of manganese
