Do my corals need fish?

Postby Chrisfreddy on 29 Jan 2016 11:31

Hi. I've just set up a qt tank and taken all my fish out of the main tank due to a white-spot outbreak. My question is will the coral in my tank be OK without fish? I have mostly soft and LPs corals and I'll be feeding them and the shrimps a couple of times a week. Is there some function that the fish provide for the coral that thay can't do withouf? Thanks.
Chris.

That's what I was thinking too. Everything is fine so far but its only been a few days since the fish came out.

You will be fine for 8 weeks untill your tank is whitespot free. But longterm wise i would reintroduce them back...

Oh yes, they'll be going back to the main tank after the eight weeks. All going well anyway. Running three tanks at the moment is a lot to keep up with, but at least it's only for eight weeks.
Thanks :)
