Did it get eaten?

Postby Chrisfreddy on 14 Mar 2016 20:48

Hi, my Alveopora coral was perfectly fine last night and then this morning it was like this!

I moved a few things around last night and it ended up being next to the green acan behind it. I've moved it now and the good half seems to be fine and there are even some polyps still visible in the bad half so I'm sure it will be ok and regrow if it is kept far away form the acan! Does this look like the acan devoured half of it overnight?
Thanks, Chris.

It looks like the coral beside it stung it

Beat me to saying it robbie

I'd agree, move it away from the other coral, and make sure there's no brown jelly on it.

Already moved, I can't believe it did so much damage in just one night! The acan is lucky its good looking  . I took the Alveopora out and dipped it and got all the slimy stuff off it, I'll watch it closely for any brown jelly. Will dipping help prevent brown jelly infection, or help clear it if it gets it?

The Alveopora is doing well now and seems to be starting to regrow into the dead bits. It did get the brown jelly on the injured end but I gave it a dip with chloromycetin anti-biotic (I read up about how to get rid of it and found out that the anti-biotic that treats it is used for cat eye drops) and it literally dissolved the brown jelly within a minute, and it hasn't come back so far.
Thanks for the advice guys.
Chris.

It's still recovering nicely :D , the acan has been sent to the bold corner.
