Adding coral snow will help as well

KZ Coral snow is Calcium carbonate. How can the Coral snow help to stop of stn?
What is treatment in there?

Corky wrote:I also have a similar problem on a yellow/green acro which I've had for nearly 2 years, about 8 months ago it started stn in a patch from bottom up until it just stopped and made a full recovery, it started doing this again approx 2 months ago and once again it appears to have slowed down, nothing in my most recent ICP test, ill be sending another one off the end of the week. I didn't attempt to frag it. Not much use to you Jaime but I'll let you know how I get on. All other corals doing excellent and like yours this particular one is also showing excellent growth.

i had experience in the past that some sps start to loss skin on its root when the whole colony reach to a massive size, it also happen in nature as bottom part not getting enough energy and light source start to die off.

andrewo wrote:I have had the opposite. Coral basing down;encrusting rock but the tips has TN. Usually there's always something off like alk levels the main culprit. But most cases by the time I see the TN it's already too late to save the coral as the cause was already few weeks old but reaction only later. Tried dipping and glueing but coral inevitably dies off. Talking bout small frags. Larger colonies can still recover of course when cause is rectified.

I had some experiences in the past with both STN and RTN, most of STN were RTN compare to what im en-counting at moment, it happens very very slow, in two weeks skin necrosis about 1 millimeter but u know its there.
Most of the STN or RTN are caused by ALK swing or too much light, I think what happen to you is the light source.
but I keep my ALK very steady, I check ALK very often in the past few month I test alk at least 5 times a week. kept in between 7.8-8.0
to me this piece acro is sick, it had some sort of disease or even curse ... :D

What is your knowledge and research or you have only the manual from KZ?

I thought you have deep knowledges and passion to know what is what , and you are open for a discussion.
I and my friends we did comparation of how CS effected to
- clear water. Video, pictures comparation before and after usage.
-Water organic test before and after CS usage.
-water colouration test before and after cs usage with the photo colorimeter test.
Unfortunately the researchs been showed us that cs doesn't any effects.
As I said the clearer water after cs usage is optical illusion. After cs water is cloudy, after few hours water will clear and thit is the illusion that water is so clear.
Think about this and do you own research, you will be surprised.

Have a nice weekend and have a nice Reef.

Ah comon, McPaul. Surely theres no need to 'sound' condescending on a friendly fish forum. Jamie asked a question on tissue necrosis and the rest just offered their opinion based on personal experiences. Not all of us are marine biologists here and have the opportunity or know how to conduct lab tests on tank water. Theres always going to be people doing things differently. If I were to disagree with somebody else I would normally probably just ignore but definitely share what I know. I mean you could share your findings with us hobbyists or even if not just say hey lads better not waste your time and money with this product etc etc etc....
When someone backs out of any potential misunderstanding by saying ok have a good day or something to you I think the other party should back down too. To go on as you did is really bad form. Ok sorry for the rant folks. :| Stressing over my own setup as it is! :( Hate to post something not fishkeeping related here and waste peoples time reading this.
